Amberg Strolls | Location Spotlight

It’s no secret that Amberg holds a special place in my heart and so it’s no surprise when this beautiful slice of Bavaria is also one of the most requested locations locally.

We’re talking about Amberg of course!

So what is there to love about downtown Amberg? LOTS!

Okay okay maybe I’m biased cause I have some sentimental attachment to this town. But there is a lot to highlight so let’s get started.

Sessions can take place a few hours before sunset!

This is actually a huge plus if you have kiddos who start their bedtime routine a lil earlier (sunset in an open field will be much much later in comparison) but the time can also be pushed back a lil later for couples. The reason for this is the taller buildings in narrow alleys act as great shaded spots and how I utilize these locations, especially in the summer, is finding perfect pockets of light and shade.

Take advantage of the seasons!

Amberg can be a versatile place during all seasons, whether that is the cherry blossoms in the park or the beautiful lanterns in summer.

Chock full of charm!

I can’t get enough of these cobblestone streets and old archways. It has that old German feel without dominating the location or taking focus off of you and your story.

Brews and traditions!

One way to celebrate your farewell and last strolls down the streets is to slip on those lederhosen and cinch up that dirndl, grab a traditional locally brewed beer at Schloderer Bräu and cheers with your favorite person.

Ice cream hangs for the win!

There is the perfect ice cream stop on the route around town and who can say no to gelato?!

Sunset is magical!

Again… I’m biased but the colors of the buildings downtown look even more fairy-tale like at sunset.

The German random-factor!

Okay hear me out…. One of the charms of strolling downtown in such a picturesque Bavarian town is that sometimes you’ll happen upon lil gems such as old-timer VW buses along the castle walls or lil vespa’s parked outside the local Italian restaurant. You just can’t plan for these types of special moments and that’s what makes them all the sweeter.

Experience it for yourself!

I could talk about my love of Amberg all day. It’s part of my own family history and heritage and my grandfather (going on 90) still lives there. The fests, the sounds of the church bells, I love all of it and I especially love sharing it with all of you.

Bonus: Foodie Spot Highlight!

I just have to shout out one of my other fav local downtown eats! Cucas Cabana not only has yum tacos but awesome people behind it.
